Department of Health 2010/11 Informatics Planning guidance emphasizes  interconnection and standards

The Department of Health has published Informatics Planning guidance alongside the NHS Operating Framework for 2010/11. Noteworthy for HL7 UK is the emphasis on moving "from a 'replace all' to a 'connect all' philosophy", with standards implementation a key aspect for success.
